Tango workshops on Friday, the 27th, Saturday, the 28th and Sunday, the 29th, and an exceptional performance at Fabs Milonga on Friday, the 27th.
In conjunction with Melbourne Tango Circuit,

Combine milonga lisa with Milonga traspie. Emphasise musicality characterises the milonga from a more theatrical view inspired by the music.

Giros and change of direction. Val’s cadence, musical interpretation and resolution of musical phrases.

How to share my dance with my partner. (1) what I listen to, (2) what I want to lead, (3) what I finally dance.

How to use the points of contact in the embrace in relation to the floor (gravity)

to find fluidity in the dance.

The giro and its possibilities are the basis of all tango steps; all combinations begin there. There are many ways to do it: experience all possibilities, proceeds, follows and resolutions.

Let’s celebrate together the rebirth of Tango at Renaissance Milonga, organised by Elena Zaléz and Marce Ospina – a fresh perspective that brings the community together in a relaxed ambience that encourages human connection and all the beautiful things that the embrace brings.
🏵 As per Day of the Dead festivities, we will honour the legacy of tango musicians of the golden age at the opening night party of the 2023 Melbourne Tango Circuit with inspiring music, a beautiful venue, artistic performances and more.
💥 As part of the Circuit and in conjunction with The New Robles Forever Dance Studio, visiting Maestro of Maestros, Rodrigo Fonti, will be leading a fantastic workshop in the venue from 6.30 – 8 pm. Stay tuned!!!

Leonardo Querrero workshop at Tango Esencia

This workshop will include the following.

  • Fundamentals of the Closed Side Embrace
  • Understanding the importance of ‘wait-listen-projection’
  • Follower and leader energy exchanges.
  • Entry & Exit of Volcadas & Colgadas (body, foot & embrace positions, energy & exercises).
  • Musicality- Speed dynamics, tension, resistance, invitation, energy, footstep & body position.
  • Tango Lines

Suitable for all levels, as various levels of complexity will be discussed.

Tango on the Bay – Layers of Tango Course

The Layers of Tango is a 10-week course ideal for people NEW to learning tango and dancers returning to tango who are keen to refine and build on their technique.
The 5th and 10th week is a supervised Social Practica to practise what we have been learning and to start getting comfortable with the code of dancing in a milonga.

Pre-requisites: No dance experience needed. Two left feet are more than welcome!
