Monthly Workshops: If you love Tango, this is your opportunity to dive deeper into the dance we all love. Over 5 monthly workshops, we’ll explore the foundations that make Tango feel comfortable, musical, connected and truly yours.

No complicated sequences. No choreography to memorise. Just practical tools you can take straight to the dance floor.

And we start next Saturday, so there isn’t much time!

The Art of Tango Turn Workshop

 

50 years ago Mingo Pugliese revolutionised the dance by creating the ‘Estructura de Giro en 8’ – a turning structure that not only organises movement but unlocks endless possibilities on the dancefloor.
This workshop is for leaders and followers and is aimed at social dancers who want to refine their technique. It will take place on Saturday 29 March at 12 Surrey Road South Yarra from 6 – 7:30pm. The workshop will be conducted by Bill Jarman of Tango Bajo and Leonel Colque of Leonel Victoria Tango, two of Melbourne’s best teachers collaborating to share their collective tango wisdom. $70 per couple or $40 per individual. Workshop participants will also be entitled to a reduced price entry of $20 into BIlz Milonga which starts at 8pm.

Are you ready to take your tango to the next level? The Tango Challenge is a unique workshop designed to refine your fundamentals and elevate your dance technique. Whether it’s walking with confidence, mastering turns, embracing the pause, or deepening your musicality, this workshop will help you build a solid foundation for improvising with ease in social dancing.
Guided by Leonel, we’ll explore the beauty of tango together, working on precision, expression, and connection. The goal?
Dance with clarity, fluidity, and confidence—both as individuals and as a community. When we improve ourselves, we uplift those around us. Let’s inspire and be inspired, pushing past our fears and embracing the limitless possibilities of our dance.
This challenge is about growth, not perfection. I’ll push you, but more importantly, I hope to inspire you—just as I was inspired by the incredible maestros Gabriel Angio and Natalia Games, as well as the vibrant tango community and DJs I encountered in Korea.
Join us every Monday, starting February 3rd, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Leader Tango Guided Practica with Leonel

Let’s gather together to practice before the milonga!
Join us for a unique and immersive tango practice event tailored for leaders guided by Leonel. This two-hour session is designed to enhance your tango skills by exploring leading and following roles.
Under Leonel’s guidance, you’ll dive into the intricacies of tango, gaining a deeper understanding of the dance’s dynamics. Leaders will have the rare opportunity to experience the follower’s perspective, fostering empathy and improving overall connection. This dual approach not only refines your technique but also enriches your interpretation and responsiveness on the dance floor.
The practice session will include structured exercises, partner rotations, and personalised feedback, ensuring each participant receives focused attention. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or looking to elevate your tango, this event promises to be both challenging and rewarding.
Take advantage of this chance to learn from one of the most experienced leader in the tango community and connect with fellow dancers who share your passion. 🤓Join us for a unique tango workshop where we delve into the intricacies of both roles (leader and follower). We’ll explore common elements that enhance connection and synchronicity in our dance. This is a rare opportunity to study one of the most exciting topics in partner dancing. Don’t miss out!
ℹ️ It would be best for you to have dancing experience to attend this workshop.
👞Please bring flat shoes to warm up and your preferred tango practice shoes for the workshop.

Bring your own drinks and nibbles. We will supply water and recyclable cups.
You can expect a very relaxed atmosphere, just come along with your dancing shoes and the desire to dance and have a good time.
DJ Terry has built a great selection of tango music for Melba dancers’ exquisite taste. He might also surprise us with some Piazzolla tandas, as he also loves the sound of modern tango.
