Milonga con Amigos is all about dancing with friends โ a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels at home. Formerly Marthaโs Milonga, we refreshed the name to capture the heart of the night: relaxed, friendly tango shared with our Peninsula community and dancers visiting from beyond.
Come for a beautiful walk around the floor, to mingle, chat, or simply enjoy the music. Weโll have coffee, tea, and water ready, and youโre invited to bring your favourite drinks (and glasses) plus a small plate to share if youโd like.
Bringing a fun, high-energy milonga pop-up class for tanguer@s who want to dive into rhythm, playfulness and that signature milonga groove!
Weโll be focusing on following technique, and weโll also be trying everything out with partners. Plus, Iโll be introducing role-swapping so everyone can get a fuller, more dynamic feel for the dance. Get ready to move, laugh and explore this cheeky rhythm togetherย

For 5 weeks in August we will work on the 5 most important fundamentals of Tango. Also including Giros, Paradas, Barridas and how to apply them in the Milonga. We will also focus on “Milonga ethics” an understanding on Cabeceo (a non verbal invitation to dance), how to enter the floor, when to enter the floor and most importantly how to become part of the flow of the dance floor.
8.30pm Intermediate Workshops
1st August – 5 different combinations for giro including planeos, enrosques and rulos. Understanding centrifugal force and how to connect it to your partner.
8th August – 5 different colgadas suited for social dancing, learn all the techniques required before leading or following a colgada and you will never miss them.
15th August – 5 different Barridas, left foot, right foot, natural and reverse. After learning these 5 Barridas we will give you a little time to create your own!
22nd August – 5 different styles of the abrazo, Apilado, Tango de Salon, Nuevo (or open), Canyengue and Milonguero. Learn how to seamlessly change from one style to the other to suit changes in the music or simply to suit your mood.
29th August – 5 different Salidas – A good strong/creative/different Salida can set the mood for the rest of the song. Being too predictable is never productive in the conversation of the TANGO!
