MST TANGO TASTER with Tango LOVE Melbourne
Tango LOVE Melbourne (Elena and Tom) will delve into the art of Milonguero-style tango, focusing on finding freedom within confined spaces. They will explore techniques that allow dancers to move gracefully, turn, and exchange positions with their partners in crowded milongas. Additionally, they will bring tools to learn how to anticipate timing, control movements, and master the art of stopping without truly stopping – just like the phrasing in singing.
Elena and Tom met through tango in 2006 in Buenos Aires; over the years they learned the importance of freedom at the moment of improvising in a social space. They started teaching in 2009 while living in Europe, organising milongas and practicas to change roles as part of the learning process. Elena took up dancing at 21 years of age, studying in Buenos Aires at the Instituto Universitario National of Art and the “Universidad del Tango”, plunging herself in the heart of tango: the milongas. Tom started dancing tango in Berlin, but soon Buenos Aires was his place, where he explored and immersed himself in the dance and culture surrounding tango.
Partners in tango and life, Elena and Tom have made Melbourne their home and after a parenthood break, they are teaching again through their new venture โTango LOVE Melbourneโ.

TangoMelbourne – Tango level 2
Level 2 Tango Classes are all about going beyond the steps and focusing on how to create feelings and effects through the tango technique.
At Tango Melbourne, we place dancing at the top of the pile. Often schools talk about what is right and wrong. We like to teach what is possible and let you choose how you will use the tools we provide.
Tango Melbourne Level 2 classes explore deeper the feelings of dancing and provide you the tools to really express yourself in the dance of tango
Come and grow your tango and experience the highest level of improvised partner dance.
TangoMelbourne – TANGO LEVEL 1.5
Push your tango a bit further.ย Tango level 1.5 is a combination of Movement sequences, Tango Vals and Tango Milonga.
Sequences are some of the most common and usable sequences so that you are ready to go out and move with others without having to worry about knowing what to do.
In the Vals / Milonga Classes, you will learn the way to dance to Vals & Milonga.
At a Tango Social event (also called a milonga) the music is divided into 3 types.ย Tango, Vals, and Milonga (the musical style, not the social event…yes we know its confusing). Although Tango is the majority of the music played the other 2 styles are used every 4 or for tandas (groups of songs)
Tango Vals is a dance in groups of 3 like other valses however, in Tango Vals you will be using your Argentine Tango ideas to make it all happen.
Milonga is where tango started.ย It is a dance based in groups of 2 and is the ‘fun’ more folk style of tango.
Vals / Milonga is all about the fun, getting involved, and discovering more about tango.
