The Melbourne Tango Orchestra is a 12-piece orquesta tipica with a repertoire of traditional Argentinean tango from the Golden Era of Mid-twentieth century tango music.
An orquesta tipica features a string section, piano, acoustic bass, and a bandoneón section, the accordion-like instrument central to the tango music genre. The Melbourne Tango Orchestra celebrates classic tangos by the great composers of this period – Anibal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese and Carlos De Sarli, and they feature the beguiling, Argentinean-born vocalist, Juan Veron.
Formed in February 2018, the orchestra has been warmly received by Melbourne’s tango dance community and performs only a handful of shows each year. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a captivating, powerful performance of traditional tango music, an integral part of Latin-American culture and identity.
